REAL Week 413

REAL - Reduce stress Exercise Adequate sleep Lower caloric intake

What Navy SEALs are required to do to make it into BUD/S:
Right up front: Never in a million years could I do what is required. However, I needed to start somewhere. Considering how fit the SEALs are, I figured it was a good place to start. So my SEAL puppy reps (SEALp) consist of girls' pushups, crunches, and flutter kicks, a SEAL training basic. I started with doing one of each.  Since my accident I haven't done these, but I'm working to add them back into my routine.

UB ~ Upper body exercises

SEALFit shared some good hints I want to learn and remember:

16: 1-mile walk. PT. UB. Used 1-lb weights x1. Stretch.

17: 1-1/2 mile walk. PT. UB. Used 1-lb weights x3. Stretch.

18: Rest.

19: 1-1/2 mile walk. PT. UB. Used 1-lb weights x3. Stretch.

20: 1/2-mile walk. PT. UB. 
Used 1-lb weights x1. Stretch.

21: 1-1/mile walk. PT. UB. Used 1-lb weights x3. Stretch.

22: 1/2-mile walk. PT. UB. 
Used 1-lb weights x1. Stretch.

Summer

We just had our hottest day of the year, so far, 119 degrees. Yippee. It's a dry heat. Stepping outside is like walking into a blast furnace. Toast.

July and August will cool down, a little, but the humidity will rise due to our rainy season. Our humidity doesn't reach Florida type levels, but it's miserable for us. From personal experience, those of us who live here are able to tell you the difference between baked and steamed.

Air conditioning makes it livable. From the air conditioned house, to the air conditioned car, to the air conditioned businesses, and back again. This is why I regularly thank God for air conditioning. God bless those who don't have it.

My Heroes... Capitol Police

Special Agent Crystal Griner and Special Agent David Bailey were wounded in the attack on Republican members of Congress and did their job anyway. Special Agent Henry Cabrera also did his job, but blessedly was not hurt. If they had not been there, it would have been so much worse. God bless them.

Sauce...

I'm attempting my first sauce using garden fresh tomatoes, thanks to the lovely neighbors who kindly shared from their garden. I've never done it before. I cooked it last night, Thursday night, with the idea that it should taste better, today. We'll see how it goes.
